Nestled in the heart of the East Cheshire countryside, the Manor House Hotel in Alsager is one of our personal favourites for a quick weekend getaway with a hint of luxury.

We love a taste of luxury and while we don’t get the chance to travel as much as we’d like, the last year has made us realise just how lovely a home stay can be when it comes to getting a break from the day to day. If you’re anything like us, then exploring new places can be a fantastic source of inspiration and relaxation. When it comes to seeking out exciting places to stay across the country, we’re always looking for comfort with simple touches that make a hotel vacation extra special.

The Manor House Hotel is noted as one of the leading wedding venues in East Cheshire due to the beautiful outdoor setting, and event spaces – but that’s not the only reason to love a stay at the hotel. With so much to offer – and a guest experience that always makes you want to return – we really do love the ambiance and homely feeling of this hotel.

About The Manor House Hotel, Alsager

The Manor House Hotel is located in Alsager – which is small town bordering the staffordshire and cheshire countryside. The hotel itself is a picturesque converted farmhouse and barn – dating back to the seventeenth century. Alsager itself is in the heart of stunning countryside near to Stoke-On-Trent and Crewe. A short drive from the beautiful peak district, the manor house hotel is a four star mid range luxury hotel who have been welcoming guests in the area since 2005.

Hosting guests in the 58 beautifully presented rooms, with a sense of rustic country charm, the manor house gives you the perfect escape from city life. The range of rooms types is great, meaning there’s a perfect room for any budget – from the standard doubles for £89 per night, to the suites with spa baths for £139 per night. When it comes to providing a range of facilities to make your stay extra special, the manor house offers so much, including dining at the hotel’s renowned Stables Bar and Grill. Guest feedback is widely really positive, with great comments from recent visitors – leaving the hotel with a fantastic overall rating of 9+ on booking.com, as well as a tripadvisor travellers’ choice award in 2020.

The family run hotel and restaurant is stylish, yet cosy. With a superb countryside location, just a stone’s throw away from the M6 and with plenty of outdoor space to relax on an autumn evening – we’ve found ourselves enjoying the peace and tranquility while enjoying the views. Alsager golf course sits proudly opposite the hotel, and with excellent links to various attractions in the nearby area, it’s a great place for a romantic long weekend.


Facilities at The Manor House Hotel

As a former Best Western Plus hotel – we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the fantastic facilities that the Manor House Hotel has to offer, making it one of the best hotels in the area. The hotel itself is situated perfectly to allow for peace and quiet during any stay, just at the far end of the town. There are excellent transport links to the hotel, including a direct train route to London from the station at Alsager (approx. five minutes walk from the hotel).

When we’ve stayed at the Manor House Hotel in the past, we’ve driven down from where we’re based – and there’s ample free on site parking, which is really helpful. As well as that, the hotel offers a number of those extras that we expect from a mid range hotel, such as free wifi, nespresso coffee machines and access to the hotel’s indoor pool and gym facilities – which are all great additions.

In terms of food and drink, the selection from Stables Bar and Grill is great – and there’s also a great range on the 24 hour room service menu. The hotel is an extension of the site of the old farmhouse that houses the bar and restaurant, with oak beams and stone fireplaces – it really is super cosy! Breakfast is also served in the restaurant which makes for a relaxed atmosphere when it comes to starting the day. There’s quite a few parts of the hotel and grounds that are more than picture perfect.

Stables Bar & Grill, is packed full of original features including striking traditional oak finishing and warm and cosy fireplaces. With a bar stocked full of fine wines and real ales, a range of seasonal menus featuring only the best locally sourced ingredients, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Stables Bar and Grill is as popular with hotel guests as it is with local residents too.

The restaurant and bar is AA Rosette award winning, and has become renowned in the local area for quality and service. You can view the Stables Bar and Grill menu below, or book a table directly with the team. As well as offering a delicious selection of grills, light bites, and classic pub favourites throughout the week – they’ve also been known to serve an incredible traditional sunday roast.

We’d have to say the cocktail list is also something great to work your way through if you’re staying for a couple of nights. In terms of special dining at Stables Bar & Grill – they also offer afternoon tea available in the stunning courtyard, and private dining experiences – which look beautiful, and are definitely on our list for the next visit.

👨 Staff – Excellent – fantastically attentive, chatty and consistently going above and beyond to provide superb customer service. Knowledgeable and courteous throughout – we couldn’t fault the small team at the Manor House Hotel at all.

🍴 Food – This is where the Manor House Hotel absolutely shines. The Stables Bar and Grill provides a fantastic seasonal menu that offers great variety and quality. As well as serving a range of brilliant local dishes in the restaurant, you can also order food at the bar, as well as having in-room dining options too. Whether you’re looking for a taste of the traditional, or something deliciously different, there’s something for everyone. There’s a wonderful range of breakfast options at the hotel, with morning pastries and cereals, fruits and a hot selection, with most made to order.

✨ Atmosphere – Traditional, rustic and charming. The public areas – lounges and bar are sophisticated, elegant and stylish You’ll feel completely at home in the comfortable converted barn, with warm fires and cosy seating – it’s definitely a welcoming and homely feel. While it is a fairly big hotel, in terms of rooms and facilities, the overall mood of the hotel is very quiet and relaxing. The landscape around the hotel really helps to let you escape the hustle and bustle.

💰 Value – Perfect for long weekends – with rooms from £89 per night, and so much included in the price. We tend to book into one of the executive rooms on our stays, due to the extra space and additional home comforts – but you would be more than relaxed in any one of their rooms. With breakfast included, as well as access to the indoor pool, gym and deals on meals in the restaurant, this is mid range luxury at it’s best. You won’t break the bank booking a stay for a few nights.
